The star has given the entirety of his £25k award winnings to the trust for venues, which operates to protect the Britain's independent music venues.

Fender was presented with the prize on October 16 as his third album his work was named the top album of the past year.

Fender has opted to hand the money over to the MVT, in acknowledgment of the essential function grassroots venues had in his early career.

"As an artist would not have achieved this success if it hadn't been for all the gigs I played around the region, and further afield, when I was just getting going," stated the artist. "These spaces are renowned, but they are in difficulty."

Since the start of 2023, more than 150 of these venues have permanently closed – approximately one-sixth of the entire UK sector.

Recently, well-known musicians such as the band Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the MVT in its attempts to keep the scene afloat, by applying a minor surcharge to their ticket prices, which benefits smaller concert halls.

Sam Fender also participated, generating more than £100,000 on his live tour to assist thirty-eight grassroots venues across Britain.

These funds assisted spaces that were confronting possible closure due to difficulties caused by flooding, blazes and personal losses, as well as permit problems, legal disputes and noise complaints.

Some locations were granted financial assistance in upgrading infrastructure and technical equipment that positively impacted performers and concertgoers.

"The notion that funds from shows in large arenas helps the independent spots, where it kicks off for artists like me, is just sensible," Fender has stated.

Fender is not the first artist to contribute his award winnings to worthy causes.

In Pulp earned the award in 1996 for their album Different Class, vocalist Jarvis Cocker declared that the act would donate their winnings to the organization the charity.

During 2002, musician the artist divided her prize between a few charities, like the children's charity and a Sickle Cell charity.

"I also gave a thousand pounds to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics program, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they required updated gear," she told the media.

In recent years, the band donated their funds to the community center that supported their act, as well as other grassroots music organisations.

Also 1994 winners M People gave their winnings to a MS organization after a acquaintance was found to have the disease.

"Receiving the award was quite enough," stated singer the singer. "The cash was the extra but we didn't need the extra, because we had the main prize. So our winning touched somebody else's life."

Recently, the MVT shared it had protected two local spots in that region, by bringing them into public stewardship.

The first in the city and the second in the city were purchased under the public acquisition program, which is funded by a national body and supporters who purchase "ownership units" in the properties.
