Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Officers report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then located many other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say initial examinations suggest the fluid was most likely human blood.
"There is still no lead as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for details.
A high-ranking official commented the incident rendered him stunned and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine individuals by a shooter targeting residents of migrant background in 2020.
